Hotels ventilate empty rooms most of the time
Traditional ventilation systems operate at constant airflow regardless of occupancy, leading to unnecessary heating and cooling losses and inconsistent indoor air quality.
Even with occupancy rates as high as 80%, hotel rooms remain unoccupied for roughly half of the time, yet ventilation continues at the same level. While ventilation itself has a cost, the larger expense comes from the heating or cooling energy that is exhausted from the building. Energy recovery systems help, but typically operate at only about 70% efficiency, leaving a significant portion of energy still lost.
Increasing energy costs and higher guest expectations are putting pressure on hotel profitability
Hotels today face pressure from both sides: energy prices continue to rise while guests increasingly expect quiet rooms, fresh air, and consistently high indoor comfort.
Traditional constant-airflow ventilation systems operate at the same level regardless of occupancy, wasting heating energy in empty rooms while still failing to maintain optimal CO₂ levels when rooms are fully occupied. As a result, operating costs increase and guest satisfaction becomes harder to maintain—directly reducing overall profitability.
Constant airflow does not guarantee indoor air quality
While the current airflow may be sufficient for one guest, it often becomes inadequate for two, forcing guests to open windows and further increasing energy consumption.
Insufficient indoor air quality also has hidden consequences: guests sleep less comfortably, feel more tired, and leave with a poorer overall experience.
Aerefy ventilates only when air quality requires it
Aerefy’s proven demand-controlled ventilation adjusts airflow according to actual needs. Rooms with guests receive more ventilation. Empty rooms receive less.
Lower heating and cooling costs
Room-level automated ventilation adjustment can reduce more than half of ventilation-related energy losses.
Better sleep
Well-rested, comfortable guests are more satisfied and more likely to return.
Installation without business interruptions
The Aerefy solution can be installed in any hotel with an existing supply and exhaust duct system. Installation in one room takes only 5–20 minutes and can be completed during normal service hours.

Aerefy improves the performance of existing ventilation systems without rebuilding ductwork. Air quality in every room is measured individually, and airflow is adjusted accordingly. The central air-handling unit is upgraded with intelligent control logic that continuously supplies the required airflow to the building.
More DetailsVentilation is one of the most influential factors in both customer satisfaction and energy cost control
Energy savings alone are often substantial enough that, with external financing options and monthly payments, total costs decrease from the very first month after deployment.
